About Us
Founded by a pALS
When Bradford Smith was diagnosed with ALS, he was filled with fear for his family. With three young children, he worried about their trauma and education and opportunity.
Brad and Tiffany are blessed with strong parents and siblings who promised to take care of their kids.
But what about pALS who don't have the same support? We founded the ALS Family Scholarship to help kids and spouses who watched someone stuffsuffer with ALS, this stupid disease, get help with their careers.

Some Facts about ALS
ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis), also known as Lou Gehrig's disease, is a progressive and degenerative neurological disorder that affects nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord, leading to the gradual loss of muscle control.
Families affected by ALS often face significant emotional, financial, and physical challenges as the disease progresses.
The exact cause of ALS is still unknown, and there is currently no known cure for the disease.
The majority of ALS cases are sporadic, meaning they occur without a family history of the disease. However, approximately 5-10% of cases are familial, meaning they are inherited from a parent who also had ALS.
ALS can strike individuals of any age, although it is more commonly diagnosed in people between the ages of 40 and 70.
Caring for a loved one with ALS can be physically and emotionally demanding. Family members often provide extensive care and support to individuals with ALS, including assistance with daily activities such as eating, bathing, and mobility.
ALS can have a significant financial impact on families, as the cost of medical care, assistive devices, and home modifications can be substantial. Additionally, individuals with ALS may be unable to work, further adding to the financial strain.
Many families affected by ALS become advocates for increased awareness, research, and funding for the disease in order to help find a cure and support those living with ALS.
Despite the challenges, families affected by ALS often demonstrate incredible resilience, strength, and determination in the face of adversity.
